Hello students and parents. Welcome to the English Language Arts (ELA) Prep Academy for 3rd - 6th grade students who want to improve in English Language Arts (ELA) skills.

This is the place that will help your student get better acquainted with ELA skills! 

I am Sharon Shannon, Founder and CEO of the ELA Prep Academy. I am a current Exceptional Education/Special Education English Language Arts teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system. I have about 25 years of combined EC (Exceptional Children) and CTE (Career and Technical Education) experience.

I am excited and passionate about helping my students develop a love for reading and writing. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Education and Training and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am constantly staying up-to-date on the latest teaching strategies and resources to ensure students are receiving the best education possible.

The ELA Prep Academy is 100% online, in which students will Zoom in with a weekly link. For now, sign-ups are weekly only.

I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas while learning. 

I am an United States Air Force veteran. Outside of teaching, I enjoy antique shopping (I don't do it enough), the beach, and public speaking. I am a firm believer in the power of education to change lives and I am dedicated to helping students reach their full potential to become the leaders who live within them. Everyone can lead in some area.
